Marc Guehi’s future has become a major transfer talking point as the Crystal Palace and England defender weighs interest from several Premier League giants. After talks with both Liverpool and Manchester City, the 25-year-old centre-back is understood to be open to leaving Selhurst Park but is carefully considering his next move, with Arsenal now strongly in the frame.

Liverpool came closest to signing Guehi last summer, agreeing a fee of around £35 million and even taking the player through a medical before Palace pulled out late in the window when they failed to secure a replacement. Since then, his contract has continued to wind down, with only a few months remaining, making him an increasingly attractive option both as a cut-price January signing and a potential free transfer in the summer.

Manchester City have re-entered the race amid a defensive injury crisis and are prepared to push for a deal this month, but Guehi is thought to be in no rush to jump at their offer. Reports indicate he would prefer to see out the season at Palace and then choose from multiple suitors at the end of the campaign, when he can command a significant signing-on fee and greater leverage over his next destination.

Arsenal’s emergence has altered the dynamic. Mikel Arteta’s side, already admirers of Guehi’s composure, athleticism and leadership at the back, are exploring a move as they look to strengthen central defence for the long term. Arsenal and Liverpool are both believed to appeal more to the player than City, largely due to playing-style fit and the promise of a central role rather than being a short-term injury fix.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has publicly insisted he expects Guehi to stay for now, but Palace are also realistic: an offer in the region of £40 million could force them to reconsider, especially if the player makes clear he intends to leave on a free in the summer. For the moment, Guehi’s stance appears to favour patience, with Arsenal and Liverpool positioned as his leading options once the season ends.
