Liverpool players have been given a shock to the system this season after going from the gentle training sessions of Arne Slot, to the far more intense style of Andoni Iraola.Slot and Iraola could hardly be more different in their approaches, with the Dutchman preferring not to push his players too hard, while his successor at Liverpool likes them to leave everything out on the AXA Training Centre pitches.For Milos Kerkez, the transition will have been less abrupt, with the left-back having spent two years with Iraola at Bournemouth. But while he is clearly enjoying a return to the all-action style which suits him better, Kerkez has claimed that his Liverpool teammates are also appreciating what the Basque coach has brought to training.

“I think the players like him, I think they like the style, they like the training sessions. I think he is good for us, we work really intensely and that’s what we have to do to compete for things.”Though Liverpool could have started the season better and are clearly a work in progress, the hope will be that Iraola’s strategy will become ingrained over time, leading to brighter days ahead.
