Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah hasn’t had the best start to the season, and he could opt to follow in Premier League icon David Beckham’s footsteps – but only if he leaves Anfield.Mohamed Salah was the Premier League’s best player last season, scoring 29 goals and registering an incredible 18 assists as Liverpool romped to the title. However, this season has been different. Just three goals, two of those being in open play, and two assists in the league means the Reds are in seventh in the table. And, with TBR Football understanding that Liverpool are once again set to receive interest from the Saudi Pro League for Salah’s talents, it could see him follow in David Beckham’s footsteps if he exits Anfield.Photo by Liverpool FC/Liverpool FC via Getty ImagesSaudi Pro League still wants to sign Mohamed Salah from Liverpool despite bumper contractTBR Football sources have confirmed that the Saudi Pro League’s offer to Mohamed Salah remains on the table after they tried to sign him last season. The Egyptian has ambitions to play in the Middle East at some stage, despite Salah signing a new contract at Liverpool earlier this year, and Saudi officials have helped compile a deal that would put him in the same bracket as Cristiano Ronaldo. But crucially, the £150million-per-year offer would also see Salah become a Tourism ambassador in Saudi Arabia, as well as having the right for part-ownership in a club in the future.Salah wants to spread his influence in world football throughout Asia, Africa and to the Muslim community for others to follow in his footsteps. And that would see him emulate David Beckham, who conducted a similar deal upon his move to the MLS in 2007.Photo by Alika Jenner/Getty ImagesMohamed Salah would be silly not to consider deal that David Beckham benefitted from massivelyUpon signing for LA Galaxy in a shock move almost 20 years ago, David Beckham was presented with a unique opportunity. His contract in California gave him the option of buying an MLS expansion franchise in any market outside of New York at a set price of $25million (£18.9million) whenever he stopped playing in the MLS.This had never been given to a player before, and the England star didn’t hesitate to exercise that option. In February 2014, Beckham bought Inter Miami for $25million, with the club becoming active in March 2020.
Beckham remains the president of the Florida outfit, and Inter Miami have since boasted high-profile players such as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets among others, as well as Inter Miami trying to sign Kevin de Bruyne. It’s been estimated that Inter Miami are worth around $1.2billion, a 4700 percent increase on his initial investment. If Salah can do the same in the Saudi Pro League, he could have a similar burst in popularity and the move would be highly heralded throughout the world. However, it’s an opportunity he can only take on if Salah leaves Liverpool, which fans convinced him not to do – and whether the club would sanction that after his new deal means it remains out of Salah’s hands.
