Victor Munoz will wear an iconic number in his debut season with Liverpool. He joined a select group of just six players to become a world champion while at Liverpool and the first since compatriots Pepe Reina and Fernando Torres in 2010.

The Spain international’s shirt number remained unconfirmed while he was involved at the tournament despite fellow summer arrival Jeremy Jacquet taking the No.5. Andoni Iraola’s side revealed on Wednesday that Munoz will sport the No.23 on his shirt, becoming the first player to do so since Luis Diaz in the 2022/23 season.

The Colombian switched to the No.7 shirt for the following campaign and remains one of only five players to wear the digit for the Reds in the Premier League era. Jamie Carragher sported the number for his entire 16-year career while fellow academy graduate Robbie Fowler was the first to give the number an airing.
