Fenway Sports Group officially sold a 30% stake in Liverpool on Friday, with fans pondering how the arrival of a consortium including Jeff Bezos will impact on the club.Bezos, who is currently the third wealthiest person on planet earth, will reportedly take a backseat role, with British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia driving the group.Bhatia has been made the new vice-chairman of the Liverpool board following completion of the deal, and though Bezos will not take a seat in the boardroom, he will have a representative do so for him, as will Eduardo Saverin, co-creator of Facebook, who is also involved in Bhatia’s group. If the new investors can help with that, brilliant. However, those who like to dig a little deeper will no doubt be attempting to find out all they can about both Elaine Saverin and Bryan Baum, who join Bhatia on the board.Saverin is the wife of Eduardo, and will clearly take care of the Brazilian’s interests in financial decisions and other things under discussion in board meetings. The Singaporean is the executive chairman of EE Capital Pte, which is essentially an investment management group created to protect the wealth of Saverin, hence her new involvement at Liverpool.READ MORE: Kieran Maguire Liverpool takeover Q&A: Amazon shirt sponsorship, broadcasting issues and Jeff Bezos involvementPhoto By Sam Barnes/Sportsfile for Web Summit Qatar via Getty ImagesMeanwhile, Baum is a co-founder and managing partner at K5 Global, another investment firm based in California. The American co-founded K5 Sports, which is said to help ‘partner with founders and operators’ in the sports sector. It is unlikely that these two will become much more known to Liverpool supporters as their involvement with the club kicks in, but it is interesting to know who is making the decisions – or at least playing a part in them – at Anfield.Given their backgrounds, it is unlikely either Saverin or Baum have much knowledge, affiliation or attachment with Liverpool FC, but the hope will be that they can undergo a crash course in getting to know the precious institution they are now a part of.
