The midfielder joined the Reds as a teenager in 2013 and built a reputation in the academy for his energy and quality in possession, which helped earn him loan moves to Doncaster Rovers and Hull City as he tried to make the jump into senior football. While a first-team breakthrough at Anfield never arrived, Kane has since carved out a solid EFL career with Barnsley and more recently Huddersfield Town, before heading to Plymouth on loan to bolster their midfield options. His time with Argyle was interrupted by injury, but he still managed to show flashesKane is joined on the released list by another ex-Liverpool youngster, goalkeeper Luca Ashby-Hammond.

The 24-year-old initially came through Fulham’s academy, but had an earlier spell in Liverpool’s youth system before establishing himself as a promising stopper and later moving to Plymouth after a successful trial spell.Ashby-Hammond arrived at Home Park on a short-term deal and provided depth in the goalkeeping department, adding further EFL experience after previous loans with the likes of Aldershot, Crawley and Gillingham. For the former Liverpool pair, the search now begins for the next chapter in careers that still have time to run, and it would be no surprise if other EFL clubs take a close look at the two players.
