Legendary Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is now “expected to stay” at the club beyond the summer transfer window, according to journalist James Pearce. Liverpool must be careful that they don’t leave themselves short of true experienced leaders, so keeping hold of Alisson is vital.

Writing on X on Friday, the reliable Pearce reported that Alisson is likely to remain a Liverpool player for at least one more year, in a big boost: “Alisson expected to stay at Liverpool this summer. Club stance unchanged since they triggered one-year option in March.” Alisson still a colossal figure for Liverpool…when fit!

He remains a colossal performer when he is fit and firing, as he showed at home to Brentford on the final day of the Premier League season, and Arne Slot hailed his performance against Paris Saint-Germain last term, saying: “I don’t think there is a goalkeeper that played at this level, which is normal because he’s the best in the world. And that I think he is, he showed that today.” Alisson is also still far from old for a goalkeeper, and there is no reason why he can’t remain a world-class player for another five years or so, assuming fitness woes don’t drag him down.
