Leipzig paid only €20 million to bring him in from Leganés last summer, making the deal look like a bargain. For Liverpool, Leipzig’s firm position complicates any move to bring Diomande to Anfield in the short term and may force them to look at alternative winger targets, including Bradley Barcola who is on the radar as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. With the player tied down on a long contract and Leipzig planning around him, any club hoping to test their resolve would likely need to table a huge offer.Complicating the picture further is an ongoing dispute over Diomande’s representation, which has been playing out away from the pitch.Earlier this year, the Ivorian switched to Roc Nation Sports International, with his former representatives at Maxidel Management claiming he remained contractually tied to them and announcing plans to pursue the matter through FIFA and, according to the Mirror, the Court of Arbitration for Sport. It’s framed as one of the key reasons there’s a strong likelihood he remains in Germany, especially with a World Cup on the horizon.Meanwhile, Yan Diomande himself has played down a potential transfer, saying earlier this month:“I’m under contract in Leipzig and I enjoy playing here. My contract here is until 2030, so I have four more years,” he explained“What’s going to happen afterwards?
I am a Leipzig player. The media only sees me on the pitch, but the club helped me a lot with my family and my mom.”“The only thing I can do for them is to give everything on the pitch and this is what I’m trying to do every day.” RB Leipzig Yan DIomande
