I believe I can sense that Upamecano feels very comfortable with the path we have chosen.”Manager Vincent Kompany also labelled him as a ‘vital’ part of his squad, and it now looks like the German powerhouse could be close to agreeing a fresh deal with the stopper.As per BILD, a deal in principle has been agreed from a financial perspective, but the main sticking point has been a potential release clause.Upamecano wants any clause to become active one year after he signs the contract, while Bayern wanted it to be dormant until 2028.However, the Bundesliga champions are now considering making a concession on that front, which would see the Frenchman pen fresh terms and have a €65m release clause from 2027.
