Real Madrid may have finally handed Liverpool fans some good news after many years of torment. The Reds’ squad is currently one of the, if not the best, they have had in a long time, with their star players dotted all around the side. Some are already Premier League winners, while the new additions will be aiming to become one soon, with expectations higher than ever. However, the catch 22 with having so many stars is that other clubs will almost always be interested in signing them, with Real Madrid a team that simply will not leave Liverpool alone at the moment. They prised Trent Alexander-Arnold away in the summer and they are trying to do the same with Ibrahima Konate, although they were not prepared to stop there. There is another key player they have been interested in signing, but after his slow start to the season, they may have just changed their mind.Photo by Gaspafotos/MB Media/Getty ImagesReal Madrid unsure on Alexis Mac Allister’s qualityThe Reds’ midfield is the heartbeat of the team and the energy from this area of the pitch usually drives them forward. This season, however, it has been a little different as a few stars have struggled, most notably Alexis Mac Allister who has not looked right since his injury.

He has had his minutes managed at the start of the season and when on the pitch, not looked as convincing as he has before, although the same can be said for almost all of his teammates too.Strangely, though, this may have indirectly benefited Liverpool as according to Defensa Central, Madrid are thinking about cooling their interest in the Argentine. They report that his ‘poor start this season has Real Madrid doubting him,’ with their view changing after seeing him play in recent matches.READ MORE: Ilkay Gundogan says he’s read something recently which answers Florian Wirtz’s Liverpool criticsOf course, that does not mean they will not come back in for him when his form very likely picks up, but for now, it may actually work in Liverpool’s favour.Real Madrid looking at Adam Wharton insteadOne reason why it might backfire, though, is because the same report states that Madrid see Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton as a better option in this department.Liverpool have been linked with Wharton and could attempt to make a move in the summer, although Madrid have now joined the race alongside many other clubs.Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez is also an option for the Spanish giants, meaning not all hope is lost on Wharton, but it still makes the task at hand a lot harder. In the grand scheme of things, keeping Mac Allister is the perfect outcome, though, suggesting Liverpool will benefit either way, but it is clear that the Argentine’s form needs to improve.
