Rio Ngumoha is set to be involved in England’s World Cup preparations. No senior players from Anfield were named in the Three Lions’ World Cup squad for a first time in 40 years with the only link coming from two former first-team stalwarts.

However Ngumoha is one of three young players who will be in England’s training squad that will travel to Florida for a series of warm-up friendlies later next month. He will join Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and Fulham’s Josh King for the meetings with New Zealand on June 6 and Costa Rica on June 10 ahead of the tournament.

Tuchel said: “We will take some young players out who will train with us and keep the squad at the size we need so we have all the possibilities for the two friendly matches to take care about the minutes and load of the players. “Alex Scott is confirmed, Rio Ngumoha is confirmed, and Josh King, and there will be one more player which we cannot name because it has not been confirmed yet.
