Now, according to Dutch outlet Soccernews, Spurs are preparing a fresh proposal for the 27-year-old to lure him away from Anfield, with De Zerbi having urged them to try again for Gakpo. It has been suggested that the N17 side could though face competition from Manchester City, who have shown interest in the Dutchman.

Manchester City though see Gakpo more as a squad depth option, while for De Zerbi he would be a key man in a new look attack. De Zerbi has been a strong supporter of signing Gakpo internally at Tottenham.
