Al-Qadsiah, whose squad is largely made up of local players, sit in fifth place in the Saudi league and parted company with previous boss Michel on Sunday. "This is a landmark moment for the club.

Assistant coaches John Kennedy and Jack Lyons – who were part of Rodgers’ team at Celtic – are joining him in making the move to the Middle East. Rodgers won back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles in his most recent spell at Celtic but his relationship with the club turned sour and he was castigated by major shareholder Dermot Desmond following his departure.
