It was a mixed night for Liverpool's players on international duty on Sunday, but Arne Slot will no doubt have been pleased to see Cody Gakpo get on the scoresheet for his country once again. Gakpo has netted just once in his last eight appearances for his club, but scored three times in two games during the international break.

He wasn't the only Liverpool player to get on the scoresheet during the game, as Virgil van Dijk also netted, and generally put in a much more polished performance than the one he produced against Malta. Jeremie Frimpong, who faced criticism for his lack of an end product in his performance against Malta, was an unused substitute against Finland.

"At the start of the week, we would have taken six points, and I think in time when we meet back up in November and see the position we're in, we'll see that positive, but walking off the pitch tonight didn't feel good." Scotland manager Steve Clarke echoed Robertson's words, saying it was the most disappointed he'd been in his 72 games in charge of the national team.
