According to a report from Sport Witness, Liverpool have turned their attention to Brazil and are closely tracking 18-year-old Santos full-back Vinícius Lira as part of their succession planning on the left. The club’s South American scouts have been following Lira for several months, monitoring his progress as Santos prepare him for a bigger role in the first team.

Lira’s path has been eased by Tottenham snapping up fellow Santos left-back Souza, with some inside the Brazilian club joking Spurs may have bought the “wrong” full-back according to the report. Santos Vinícius Lira
