Liverpool have had some top talents throughout their history, so praise from Kenny Dalglish really is a compliment of the highest order. The Reds are the most successful team in English football, with the main reason for this being because of just how many legendary players they have had over the years. One of, if not the, best in Liverpool’s history is Sir Kenny Dalglish, with the Scotsman having the nickname ‘King Kenny’ for a reason. Playing between the late 1970s and 1990, Dalglish was part of some of the most successful teams the club has ever had, with some of the players he played with being nothing short of sensational. But there is one in particular who stood out above the rest, with the former striker naming him as the best he has ever played with.Photo by Allsport UK/ALLSPORT via Getty ImagesIan Rush was the best player Kenny Dalglish played withStrike partnerships do not come around all too often anymore, but back in the day, almost every team had one.
Liverpool, arguably, had one of the best around in the 1980s, with this being a combination of Dalglish and Ian Rush. The Scotsman was known for his creative abilities and ‘Rushie’ was synonymous with always putting them in the back of the net, with Dalglish naming him as his best ever teammate.“The best one for me was Rushie [Ian Rush], he saved me a lot of running!” Dalglish said on the Stick to Football podcast.“But Rushy was brilliant, especially for my position. Isak is yet to get up and running but Ekitike has taken the league by storm so far, meaning that, if anything, he is the one who deserves his place. It would certainly be a drastic change and they would have a very long way to go if they are to reach similar levels to Dalglish and Rush, but the quality they possess means it is not entirely impossible.
