It has been a pretty mixed start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign for Liverpool and manager Arne Slot and with us eleven games into the campaign we currently have six wins and five defeats to our name. But it is now being reported that he has asked to leave Bournemouth in the January transfer window following our earlier approach.
Naturally this has led to speculation rumour mill claims that we are planning to go back in for him again in the New Year. In fairness, this one seems unlikely given the attacking talent that we already boast as you would have to question how we would fit him in given the numbers we already have.
Given his current form he would certainly command a transfer fee in excess of £50 million, and some are already suggesting that we had offered £70 million, and it feels unlikely that we would spend that amount in January, and that is without addressing the point that goalscoring so far this season has not really been an issue for us - our problems more stem from a lack of clean sheets and organisation at the back. Semenyo will likely be a top target for a number of sides come next summer, and with claims of a release fee being included in his current deal, we will simply have to see what that is set at and then whether or not anything does actually come of this as we edge ever closer to January and the window opening.
