But if the speculation rumour mill is to be believed we could be set to see yet another arrival at the club when the transfer window opens. A good few weeks back it was being suggested that AFC Bournemouth talent Antoine Semenyo had told the club that he wanted to move on during the next transfer window, and it was speculated that he had a £65 million release clause built into his existing deal.

Along with the usual clubs mentioned, Liverpool were one of the sides to be heavily linked with him, and given the time of the year he is now back in the headlines and we are again being linked with making a move for him, as we apparently battle it out with Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. The release fee is only active at the start of the window, and moreover, it only actually drops by £5 million when we enter the summer, so Bournemouth will most likely want him to see the campaign out with them anyway.

From Liverpool's perspective, given our incredible spending over the summer and the clear consistency problems that we have had as newbies adjust to their new colleagues and strike up some real understanding, you would both think that we would not want to disrupt the group again in January as it does look like we are finally beginning the click, and then of course, surely after that spending we would be prioritising on a few outgoings to better help balance the books. We are still to replace Luis Dias following his move to German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, so either way Semenyo would give Slot some very good attacking options given his versatility as we move forward, but it again seems very unlikely that we would make a January move unless our hand is forced somehow.
