Sky Italy confirm Federico Chiesa and Juventus news

Juventus have formally contacted Liverpool over a potential January move to bring Federico Chiesa back to Turin after an underwhelming spell at Anfield, where the 28-year-old has started only two Premier League games since his £12m move in August 2024.[2]

Chiesa originally left Juventus in contentious circumstances, having been effectively forced out in the summer of 2024 when then-coach Thiago Motta excluded him from the squad and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli failed to agree a new contract.[2] Both figures have since departed, and the Bianconeri hierarchy is now keen to engineer his return to the Allianz Stadium.[2]

The main sticking point is the structure of the transfer. Juventus are pushing for a six-month loan with a purchase option, seeking financial flexibility and the chance to fully assess Chiesa before committing long term.[2] Liverpool, however, are insisting on a permanent sale and want to at least recoup the €12m they paid for him 18 months ago, rejecting simple loan proposals.[2]

According to Sky Italy, Juventus are now preparing an improved proposal designed to break the deadlock.[2] The new idea is a loan with a right to buy that would become an obligation under certain conditions—a formula intended to protect both clubs and satisfy Liverpool’s demand for guaranteed income while allowing Juve to spread the financial impact.[2]

Sky Italy report that Juventus “are not giving up” on the deal and are “studying a new offer” to convince Liverpool, but emphasise that the English club’s stance remains firm: the winger will only be allowed to leave on a permanent basis.[2] The coming days are therefore likely to focus on whether Juve can tweak their proposal enough to match Liverpool’s conditions and complete Chiesa’s return to Serie A.[2]
