Steven Gerrard believes that Didi Hamann was underrated at LiverpoolThroughout his career, Gerrard was the one constant among Liverpool’s team before making the move to LA Galaxy.
However, during his time with Liverpool, he did have some impressive teammates along the way, such as Didi Hamann. However, while speaking on the Rio Meets Podcast, Gerrard, while picking his best five-a-side team out of players he’s played with, said that Hamann was ‘very underrated.’“For midfielders, definitely Alonso,” he said.“Mascherano was good, but I only played with him for a little short period of time, so I’d probably say Didi Hamann, all very underrated.”Didi Hamann was one of Liverpool’s best players during his eraAlthough Gerrard may see Hamann as being underrated, it’s clear that he was instrumental to Liverpool’s successes.
He more than managed to cement his place in Liverpool’s starting XI as their defensive midfielder during the seven years he was at the club. He could also read the game as if he predicted the future, although he’s not quite at Hamann’s level just yet, if Ryan Gravenberch continues on this upward spiral, there’s no reason why he can’t also become a Liverpool great.
