(Credit: Manh Tung, Breaking Media, Imago) Sun 29 March 2026 13:00, UK Sunderland will surely reignite their pursuit of Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu as he prepares to leave the King Power Stadium at the end of the season. It is surely now a no-brainer for Regis Le Bris and Co. to pursue a deal for Fatawu this summer, considering that his current club have already made him available for a cut-price fee.

That represents excellent value for one of the Championship’s most creative players this season, and Sunderland would be silly not to try and take Leicester up on a deal. 🇬🇭 Fatawu Issahaku has scored many goals this season from cutting inside the defender onto his left foot, but this time he didn’t give the defender any time to think. 🚀pic.twitter.com/69WMVxogQk— Owuraku Ampofo (@_owurakuampofo) February 11, 2026 View Tweet The former Sporting CP academy star is clearly ready to make the jump to the Premier League, and he would be better placed to make an impact at the Stadium of Light than some of the club’s current wide options. Fatawu move would finish Romaine Mundle at SunderlandRomaine Mundle was one of the heroes of Sunderland’s promotion-winning season last time out, but he has massively struggled to make the step up to the Premier League this term.

The influx of new arrivals last summer has left the 22-year-old on the fringes of Le Bris’ squad, and he has started just two league games since the beginning of the season. He is already firmly behind the likes of Chemsdine Talbi and Enzo Le Fee on the wings, and with Mundle entering the final two years of his contract in the summer, Sunderland will surely look to offload him.
