Spurs first identified Robertson as a summer target before accelerating their interest in January after Ben Davies suffered a fractured ankle, leaving Thomas Frank desperately short at left-back. But it now seems the North London club will reignite their interest this summer and try to land him on a free.

David Ornstein of the Athletic has reported that Tottenham Hotspur is in “pole position” to sign Robertson – but they would need to ensure they avoid relegation first: “Tottenham Hotspur are in pole position to sign Andy Robertson as a free agent this summer, subject to retaining their Premier League status,” he wrote. “His focus on Liverpool means nothing is finalised and there remains strong interest from elsewhere in Europe, but the groundwork undertaken by Tottenham in the winter market and the appeal of the opportunity to Robertson leaves the north London side poised to complete a deal if they avoid relegation.” The news that Robertson would be departing Anfield at the end of the season was confirmed by Liverpool themselves on Thursday, April 9th, bringing the curtain down on a nine-year stay that yielded two Premier League titles, a Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups and more across 373 appearances for the club.
