Tottenham Hotspur Striker Officially Joins Liverpool

Liverpool FC Women have officially completed the loan signing of Scotland international striker Martha Thomas from Tottenham Hotspur, bolstering head coach Gareth Taylor's attacking options for the remainder of the 2025-26 Barclays Women's Super League (WSL) season.[1][2][4]

The 29-year-old forward, born on May 31, 1996, brings extensive WSL experience. Thomas began her English top-flight career with West Ham United in 2019, followed by two seasons at Manchester United, before joining Spurs in September 2023. At Tottenham, she made 66 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 goals. Highlights include Tottenham's first WSL win over Arsenal in December 2023, the club's first WSL hat-trick, reaching the Women's FA Cup final, and a milestone of 100 top-flight games in March 2024.[1][2][3]

Internationally, Thomas has been prolific for Scotland, earning 52 caps and netting 21 goals since her senior debut in March 2020.[1][2][3][4] Her professional journey started in France with Le Havre before establishing herself in the WSL.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com at the AXA Melwood Training Centre after completing her move, Thomas expressed enthusiasm: "It means a lot. It’s a really exciting time for me and I’m really excited to be here. I think it’s the right fit right now in my career."[2][4] She highlighted her belief in the squad: "I’ve got full faith in this team. I wouldn’t have joined if I didn’t think I could help and it wasn’t a successful project going forward." Thomas, who will wear the No. 31 shirt, aims to help Liverpool convert strong performances into points and climb the table.[1][2][4]

This loan deal strengthens Liverpool's attack in one of the world's toughest women's leagues, with Thomas eager to contribute immediately.[2][3]
