Transfer insider not ruling out ‘very interesting’ swap deal between Liverpool and European giants

One transfer insider hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a blockbuster swap deal between Liverpool and another giant of European football in 2027.There were reports in recent days that Bayern Munich remain strongly interested in Florian Wirtz, who they’d wanted to sign before he moved to Anfield last year, although Christian Falk has indicated that the Bundesliga champions aren’t actively pursuing the Germany international at present.On the other side of the coin, the Reds had been strongly linked with Allianz Arena star Michael Olise over the past few months, although a rumoured asking price of almost £150m outlines just how reluctant the Bavarian giants would be to sell him.Falk on possibility of Liverpool/Bayern swap dealIn his latest Q&A for CF Bayern Insider, Falk was asked about the possibility of a swap deal involving those two players materialising in 2027.He outlined that Bayern director of sport Max Eberl is eager for Olise to pen a new contract next summer, when the winger will have two years remaining on his current deal, and ‘wants a sign’ of willingness from the player to do so before then.The journalist continued: ‘Everyone is hoping the former Crystal Palace star signs a new contract, but if not, and he decides for a transfer, of course Florian Wirtz would be a player who’s interesting for Bayern Munich. ‘The German can play on the side or centrally. This would be a very interesting thing, and if you make a swap deal with Liverpool or sell Olise for a lot of money to Real Madrid, you have the money to make an offer for Wirtz.

With the greatest of respect to the popular Italian, Olise would certainly be an upgrade on that flank.Would Liverpool realistically be prepared to entertain a swap deal between the Frenchman and Wirtz? At present it’s not something we envisage, with the Germany playmaker only beginning his second season on Merseyside.Having spent more than £100m to sign the 23-year-old, it’d seem like quite the knee-jerk reaction to cast him aside after little more than a year at the club, and at a minimum he deserves the remainder of this campaign to silence his critics.We’d absolutely welcome Olise at Anfield, but not at the expense of our number 7 going in the opposite direction.
