Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso will be desperate to have Trent Alexander-Arnold back in time for their trip to Liverpool after a new injury to Dani Carvajal. Alexander-Arnold is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, which cast doubt over his involvement against his former club in the Champions League.



That means he is not guaranteed to be back fit in time to face Liverpool, with the onus on Alexander-Arnold to recover and start against the Premier League champions. Alexander-Arnold’s early struggle at Real Prior to his injury, Alexander-Arnold found himself in rotation with Carvajal in the right-back spot with a clear sense that he was not first choice.

Alexander-Arnold’s injury comes after a deal was brokered before the expiry of his contract to join Real in time for the Club World Cup. And with Carvajal’s own fitness now uncertain there could be a demand for Alexander-Arnold to perform if he is called upon to start against his old club.
