Liverpool are making a massive mistake by not signing Adam Wharton this summer, even if Crystal Palace want £100m for him. This isn’t about the money, just how good Wharton is, and how badly Liverpool need a player with his profile.

The last several weeks of the transfer window have seen a number of reports state that Liverpool aren’t interested in Wharton or that Palace are making it impossible to sign him with their prohibitive asking price. Journalist Graeme Bailey said this week: “Liverpool had been linked with a move for Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton – now valued in the £80m bracket – but are unlikely to pursue that transfer and instead intend to offer more opportunities to 19-year-old talent Trey Nyoni.” It’s my view that £80m will turn out to be a bargain for Wharton.

Liverpool should be doing everything they can to sign Adam Wharton These two videos of Wharting playing against Everton prove the magic he could add to Liverpool’s midfield. lol pic.twitter.com/v5QktQCtb3 https://t.co/AtqmCtQDwS — SIR AHMED (@midopido21) August 22, 2026 Since Trent Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool, the Reds no longer have a deep-lying playmaker, and it’s more important than ever with Andoni Iraola bringing high-pace attacking football back to Anfield. Wharton’s vision and technique make him the perfect lynchpin for Liverpool transitions.
