Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike have become two of the most talked about Liverpool players after moving to join the Reds this summer.Ekitike was the first to arrive, and ever since his move was confirmed, the chatter has been around how he and Isak can possibly play together. So far, Liverpool supporters have not been given the chance to see their two new strikers in tandem.Isak has been slowly building up his match fitness, with Arne Slot often choosing to swap one forward for the other in-game.Meanwhile, there have been suggestions from pundits outside the club that Ekitike may not be happy playing second fiddle to Isak. In the media, a potential rivalry has been concocted.Ahead of another opportunity for Slot to play the two together – in the Champions League against Galatasaray on Tuesday night – Isak and Ekitike made their feelings about each other clear in an open training session.Photo by Ben Roberts Photo/Getty ImagesAlexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike getting along greatThere is no real basis in the suggestions that Ekitike was not happy about Liverpool signing Isak this summer. The likelihood is that the Frenchman was made aware of Liverpool’s plans, and knew Isak would probably be joining him at Anfield.READ MORE: Galatasaray manager suggests whether Victor Osimhen will play against Liverpool after fitness strugglesNevertheless, the early weeks of their joint time with the Reds have fuelled suggestions that the pair will be competing head-to-head for game time.It remains to be seen whether that really is the case, but as posted by BeanymanSports on X during Liverpool’s open session on Monday, Isak and Ekitike appear to be getting along just fine. The two forwards can be seen chatting and laughing as they stroll side by side at the Liverpool training centre. With both players looking relaxed and very much at ease, this is not the sight of two people who are not getting along.

Could Isak start with Ekitike against Galatasaray? It has been a long wait for Liverpool supporters to see what exactly Slot’s plan is when it comes to Isak and Ekitike.Given the fees spent on both players, we think the long-term plan is to get them both in the team together. So far, that has not been possible, but there is another chance coming along. In an ideal world, we think Tuesday night may have actually been pencilled in as Slot picking Isak and Ekitike together for the first time.

Unfortunately, Ekitike’s suspension against Crystal Palace likely ended that chance.Isak had to play longer than planned against Palace, and as a result is probably set for a bench role in Istanbul. After having the weekend off, it makes sense for Ekitike to start. We’d imagine the plan will then be to swap the two later in the game, although Slot could also keep Ekitike on and give fans a glimpse into these two star strikers in tandem.
