As Liverpool continue to be linked with potential new winger additions, the name of Malick Fofana has been notable by its absence.One year ago, when the Reds were looking into possible signings to counter the sale of Luis Diaz, Fofana was named as a top target for Liverpool.After an excellent season with Lyon, the Belgian looked primed to make the move to one of Europe’s top clubs. So, having clearly been interested in 2025, could Liverpool come back in for Fofana?

Instead, they would prefer him to go again next season and increase his value once more.READ MORE: Bradley Barcola to Liverpool just became much more likely as PSG pick his replacement Photo by Nico Vereecken / PhotoNews via Getty ImagesLiverpool should be looking at Fofana againAfter deciding not to buy a winger last year, Liverpool are going full steam ahead to sign Bradley Barcola as their main forward addition in 2026.Nevertheless, there is still room for another signing, especially if Cody Gakpo is sold, and this is where Fofana could still be of interest.Though the Belgium international is very much a left-sided forward, BILD actually describe him as being ‘two-footed,’ which would obviously appeal to Liverpool.There should be scepticism over the claims of a €20-€30m asking price, as Lyon would surely want more for him, despite his underwhelming season.

But, with a contract until 2028, Fofana would clearly be attainable for a relatively good price.Liverpool supporters were quickly sold on the prospect of signing the Lyon starlet last summer. There is so far no indication that the Reds could come back in for him 12 months on, but if they are looking for someone else to complement the addition of Barcola, Fofana would be a smart target.
