Though Liverpool supporters will no doubt be enjoying the World Cup as it moves towards its most crucial stages this summer, there remains nothing quite like club football. After Andoni Iraola arrived to blast away the negativity surrounding the Reds, fans are looking forward to a new era under the Spaniard, starting with the first steps during pre-season.Iraola will initially have a reduced group of Liverpool players to work with as the World Cup’s impact is felt, but with more and more Reds being knocked out of the tournament, it is becoming more clear when each of them will return. Who has been the standout Liverpool player at the World Cup so far?

Last year, it was decided that every player should be granted at least three weeks off before returning to their clubs following the World Cup, although they can return sooner if they so wish. Working on that basis, here is when Liverpool’s World Cup Reds could be expected back, after Alisson Becker joined the scrapheap following Brazil’s defeat against Norway on Sunday.Last-32 knockouts could return for US tourAlthough all of Liverpool’s players made it through to the knockout rounds, five of their eight representatives fell at the first hurdle, crashing out in the last-32.Florian Wirtz and Germany were the first to go, on June 29th, with Alexander Isak‘s Sweden and the Netherlands team of Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch following one day later. If all five players have three weeks rest, they should be scheduled back at Liverpool on the 20th-21st of July, which may give them time to join the Reds’ tour of the USA.Photo by Joe Prior/Visionhaus via Getty ImagesREAD MORE: Why Cody Gakpo is actually worth a lot more than £70m as Liverpool set ‘very high asking price’It has not yet been revealed exactly when Liverpool will fly out, but with the first fixture coming on July 25th, it will likely be around the date of the first quintet’s potential return.Of course, it could be that they either join the week-long tour a few days later or, perhaps more likely, sit it out and begin work back on Merseyside.Alisson to come back week commencing July 27thWith Brazil unexpectedly being knocked out by Norway, Alisson will not be too far behind his Liverpool teammates. The goalkeeper could return on July 27th, three days before the Reds face Wrexham in New York.Again, like the other World Cup stars, though, it feels more likely that Alisson will not fly back to the US, but will instead come back home to England ahead of the friendly with Monaco at Anfield on August 9th.Mac Allister and Munoz will be the last to returnWhatever happens from here, Alexis Mac Allister and new signing Victor Munoz will be scheduled to be the final players to come back – unless there are any new arrivals still in the competition, of course.Munoz has not featured at all for Spain during the tournament so far because of injury, but will be hopeful of playing during Monday’s clash with Portugal.

Who should Liverpool’s new top target be after being rejected by Yan Diomande? 10.In the event that either player reaches the semi-final, they will be guaranteed to be off until at least August 8th, which would still give them two weeks until the new season begins. It has ultimately been a poor World Cup for the Liverpool players who have travelled, and while that will sting for a while for those involved, for supporters, it does at least mean they will be getting key players back earlier than might’ve been expected.
