The 36-year-old joined the Blues on a surprise free transfer following his release from Brentford this summer.

Henderson arrived late after his World Cup participation with England and therefore did not have a pre-season. Hence, he has yet to play a single minute for the Blues, but Alonso has revealed that the midfielder is not far from his debut.

He said in today's presser: "He's getting closer and closer to playing time." Chelsea are currently short in the midfield department after selling Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City without a replacement. Moises Caicedo is also on the sidelines with an injury and he is a huge doubt to face Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
