Liverpool FC NewsFeaturesYan DiomandeYan Diomande has reportedly chosen PSG over Liverpool this summer. While the attraction of the European champions is clear to see, the teenager could be making a big mistake in his careerYan Diomande has reportedly chosen a move to PSG over Liverpool this summer(Image: Getty Images)Just when it looked like Liverpool was closing in on its man, Yan Diomande had other ideas. The pursuit of the superstar teenager reached fever pitch over the last few days, with the Reds’ pursuit stepping up.
Then came the bombshell moment.According to The Athletic, if Diomande is to make a move this summer, then he wants it to be to PSG rather than Liverpool. Diomande has seemingly been angling for a move all summer, and while he has hinted at being keen on a move to Liverpool, he has flirted with PSG a little more recently."Paris Saint-Germain is a team I’ve loved since I was a child,” he said earlier this month.
But why not?”Diomande would have a serious battle on his hands to get into PSG's team(Image: MAURO PIMENTEL / AFP via Getty Images)Those comments would seem to indicate that his heart has always been set on a move to Paris, and with Luis Enrique’s side probably the best team in the world right now, any player would naturally have their head turned by the current European champions. That doesn’t mean Diomande might not be making a mistake by choosing PSG, though. At just 19 and with only one full season in one of Europe’s top five leagues under his belt, Diomande isn’t the finished article yet, and above all else, he needs games. When PSG have got Bradley Barcola sitting in reserve, that certainly doesn’t suggest Diomande is assured of a starting spot. One thing is for certain, though, that looked more like a guarantee at Liverpool.James Findlater James Findlater is a Content Editor for Liverpool.com, bringing nearly a decade of experience to his coverage of Liverpool FC and the wider football landscape.
