Darren Bent doesn’t agree with what has been said about Liverpool sacking Arne Slot this season. After falling well short in the Premier League title race and seeing their performances take a nosedive, Liverpool fans want Slot gone.Oliver Glasner had been mooted as a potential option, as has an interim manager replacing the Dutchman, but Bent is of the opinion that the 47-year-old probably shouldn’t be sacked. Ok, let’s all agree Slot’s done, who you want to see in the dugout next?

I just think it might be a bit reactionary.“I know the football potentially isn’t what it used to be in terms of, it’s not heavy metal rock and roll football that Klopp used to play.
“I know at times they’ve been called quite boring, in terms of their build-up play, little bit slow. Some Liverpool fans, certainly the ones I know, haven’t enjoyed watching that.”But Bent’s stance does depend on Liverpool actually qualifying for next season’s Champions League, which at present is not a guarantee.Liverpool have lost two of their last five league matches, seeing them slip down to sixth behind Chelsea and Aston Villa. They are only below the Blues via goal difference, but the inconsistent nature of Slot’s team, especially in the league, means they are not backed to finish in the top four at present.Opta give the Merseyside outfit a 41.65% chance of qualifying for the Champions League next term, with Chelsea, who they still need to play in the coming months, given 39.75% chance of making it into Europe’s top competition next term.Join Our NewsletterReceive a digest of our best Liverpool content each week direct to your mailbox
