Andy Robertson has insisted that Liverpool cannot afford to focus too much on the impending arrival of Arne Slot as they bid to end the season on a high.
The Reds have identified Slot, 45, as the man they want to succeed Jurgen Klopp in the summer and a deal is now on the cusp of completion after the club reached a verbal agreement with Feyenoord over a compensation package for the Dutchman's services.
Slot will take charge at Anfield in the summer but there is still plenty of football to be played under Klopp before then.
Liverpool now look unlikely to win the Premier League title and were knocked out of the Europa League earlier this month, meaning Klopp will sign off with just the Carabao Cup.
Speaking before Saturday's match with West Ham, Robertson appeared to acknowledge that the deal for Slot was all but done before stressing that he and his team-mates are still determined to send Klopp off in style.
.
"It’s obviously something that we can’t focus on now," Robertson told TNT Sports ahead of kick-off.
"There has been a lot of talk in the last couple of days and it looks like it’s nearly finalised, if not finalised.
"But we have to focus on this season and focus on trying to give this manager our all till the end and give him the farewell he deserves with what he has done for this club!
"That is what us as players have to focus on and we will focus on the new era when it comes to it in the summer."
