The Reds have been linked with a number of bosses as potential successors to Jürgen Klopp, most notably Xabi Alonso and Rúben Amorim.
But Slot is now the clear frontrunner and the Daily Mail reports that a deal could be concluded in the coming days, with Liverpool remaining in talks with Feyenoord over a compensation package.
Slot has publicly admitted that he would like to move to Anfield and any package is likely to include members of staff that will follow him to Merseyside.
Liverpool has previously confirmed that assistant Pep Lijnders would follow Klopp out of the club, alongside coaches Vitor Matos and Peter Krawietz.

But it is claimed that Feyenoord do not want Slot to take his entire backroom staff with him, and will block any Liverpool attempts to do so.
It comes after Dutch outlet 1908 suggested he wanted to bring in at least three staff members.
Liverpool.com has taken a look at those coaches who could potentially follow Slot to Anfield, with at least one further appointment likely.

It appears Slot will also look to bring at least another member of his Feyenoord staff with him to Liverpool, should he take over.
The 37-year-old had a decent career in the Eredvisie, playing for AZ Alkmaar and Groningen, and alongside Slot at PEC Zwolle.
Since retiring in 2020, Reijnen also worked as a coach at SC Cambuur, before joining Slot at Feyenoord earlier this season as analyst and technical advisor.
