Troy Deeney believes coaching sessions with a controversial former Red could finally get Darwin Nunez firing.
The Uruguayan has scored 33 goals over his first two seasons as a Liverpool player following a big-money move from Benfica.
He was then benched for the clash with West Ham in the capital.
Deeney believes that Nunez would benefit from one-to-one coaching from Liverpool icon Michael Owen.
Writing for The Sun, the former Watford striker said: “If I was Jurgen Klopp — or his likely successor, Arne Slot — I’d be on the phone to Michael Owen asking if he’d come in for sessions with Darwin Nunez.
Nunez has missed more big chances than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues — and if he’d scored a few more of them it might have been the difference between Liverpool winning the title or not.”

Troy Deeney has urged Liverpool to get in touch with Michael Owen to help Darwin Nunez.
After the striker had scored a stunning goal against Brentford in February, he claimed that he should have kept things simple instead.
“That finish from Darwin Nunez yesterday was insane.” Owen posted on social media.
