Cody Gakpo recently offered succinct descriptions of his Liverpool teammates, encapsulating each player in a single word.

Gakpo joined the Reds from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, having established himself as a regular member of the PSV squad.

The 25-year-old contributed significantly to the club’s successes, including winning the Dutch Cup, Eredivisie, and Johan Cruyff Shield during his tenure.

His stellar performances earned him a place in the Dutch national team, where he made his senior international debut at Euro 2020.

During the World Cup, he showcased his talent on the global stage, starting in all of the Netherlands’ five matches and playing a key role as they reached the quarter-finals in Qatar.

Gakpo notably found the back of the net in every group game, scoring a header against Senegal, a powerful strike from 20 yards out against Ecuador, and a well-placed finish on the run against the hosts.

Following his debut for Liverpool against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Gakpo quickly won over the Anfield faithful by scoring his first goal in a memorable Merseyside derby victory over Everton.

He further solidified his place in Liverpool folklore by scoring twice in a resounding 7-0 victory over Manchester United.

He has since made 77 appearances, scored 22 goals, and provided nine assists for Liverpool in all competitions.

This season, Gakpo has had a respectable goal-scoring campaign, tallying 15 goals across all competitions with a significant portion of his goals have been scored in the EFL Cup and Europa League.
