Feyenoord boss Arne Slot reportedly stands out as a prominent contender to succeed Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool’s manager.
Since Klopp announced his departure from Anfield in January, the Reds have diligently explored various potential candidates.
The 45-year-old, renowned for guiding Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in the 2022-23 season, fits the profile sought by Liverpool.
Under Slot’s leadership, Feyenoord have enjoyed success this season, securing the Dutch Cup and currently occupying the second spot in the Eredivisie.
While no final decision has been made regarding Slot’s appointment, he has emerged as a formidable candidate to take over from Klopp.
Slot’s managerial capabilities have attracted attention previously, with links to Leeds United following Jesse Marsch’s dismissal.
Additionally, Slot distanced himself from the Tottenham vacancy last summer before Ange Postecoglou assumed the role.
Despite speculation, Slot reaffirmed his commitment to Feyenoord by extending his contract until 2026.
According to De Telegraaf’s Marcel Van De Kraan, Slot is likely to be the next Liverpool manager this summer.
“I will be surprised if Arne Slot is not the manager of Liverpool next season.”
Slot assumed the role of Feyenoord head coach in December 2020 following his departure from AZ Alkmaar, where he achieved success in his inaugural managerial role.
During his playing career, the former midfielder remained rooted in the Netherlands, amassing over 100 appearances for both FC Zwolle and NAC Breda.
Meanwhile, renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano delivered encouraging news regarding Slot’s potential move to Liverpool.
“One more direct contact will take place soon between Arne Slot and Liverpool board to discuss more key points of the project,” he posted on X.
“Slot, keen on Liverpool job and concrete option as he’s highly rated by #LFC.”
Xabi Alonso was linked with the managerial position at Anfield, but the former Reds midfielder announced in March that he would continue his tenure at Bayer Leverkusen.
Leverkusen subsequently went on to clinch the Bundesliga.
Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim was another name frequently associated with the Liverpool job.
However, recent reports suggest that he may have dropped out of contention for the role.
