Arne Slot has all but officially been announced as Jurgen Klopp’s successor next season.

However, it is anticipated that he will soon be announced as the new Liverpool boss.

There is a reported agreement between Liverpool and Feyenoord on a compensation package worth up to £9.4 million.

Slot received overwhelming support from fans at De Kuip on last weekend after a big 5-0 win over PEC Zwolle.

The 45-year-old was seen applauding and saying goodbye the Feyenoord supporters, with both parties seemingly aware of the situation.

With PSV now officially crowned as Eredivisie champions, Feyenoord’s season has effectively concluded, having already secured the Dutch domestic cup.

Plenty has been said on the incoming boss, such as his tactics, the players he wants to bring in, and all kinds of other speculation.

But it’s easy to forget that one of Jurgen Klopp’s biggest strengths was just his personality and larger-than-life aura.

The German’s man management was second to none and having that in your toolbox as manager at a club like Liverpool is very important.

And it seems that Arne Slot’s humour and spirit may have earmarked him as the most suitable candidate on the list.

And, according to the journalists at Dutch outlet Panaroma, it could be the reason why Slot fares better than Erik Ten Hag in the Premier League.

Arne Slot has the ‘banter’ to succeed at Liverpool

Appearing on an episode Bij Andy in de auto, the Feyenoord manager showcased his softer and more humorous side – perhaps what he doesn’t show at press conferences and in the public.

In this particular episode, Arne Slot and the host, Andy, drove around Zwolle in the Netherlands until he could guess Slot’s house (which ended up being a modest ‘city villa’ in the centre of the city).

“Look at what a shack, dude!” remarked Andy.

“With those 2 million euros a year at Feyenoord you can buy nice things!”

It also emerged in the episode that Arne Slot is represented by Brazilian super-agent Rafaela Pimenta, who was one of the closest confidants of the late Mino Raiola.

She brought Arne Slot to Feyenoord initially in 2021, and is described as ‘a lady who knows how to make money for her clients’.

Nevertheless, Slot showed his humours side by saying he enjoyed shooting the episode:

“I liked it very much, if only because I don’t often sit next to bald people who have even thicker heads than I do.”

Andy, somewhat taken aback replied:

“I’ve already lost a little bit of weight, don’t you see that?”

Slot teased back: “Well, just a little bit”

It then seems that Slot has the charisma to become a Liverpool manager, and perhaps more crucially, have a big enough character to succeed Jurgen Klopp.

Panaroma reason:

“Banter, that’s what they call it in England: humour as football people prefer it.

Slot doesn’t have to worry about that in any way.”
