Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah were involved in an argument on the touchline during Liverpool's 2-2 draw at West Ham.

Reds forward Salah was dropped for the match and introduced as a substitute after a Hammers equaliser to make it 2-2 on 77 minutes.

Manager Klopp was seen giving instructions to the Egyptian, which led to a heated exchange.

Striker Darwin Nunez, who had also been left out of the starting XI, eventually intervened to hold his teammate back.

Klopp was asked about the incident after the game and refused to comment.

He said: "No [I can't say what was said], but we spoke about it already in the dressing room.

For me, it's done."

Klopp rung the changes after a 2-0 defeat to Everton on Wednesday night - which all-but ended Liverpool's hopes of winning the Premier League title.

It followed a recent 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace and elimination from the Europa League at the hands of Atalanta.

Klopp has announced his decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season after a glittering nine-year spell, with Feyenoord manager Arne Slot lined up to replace him.

However, the Salah incident is the latest blemish on a disappointing finale to Klopp's swansong season.

Salah is Liverpool's top goalscorer this term with 24 in all competitions, but the 31-year-old has been among those criticised for his performances in recent weeks.

talkSPORT understands this could also be Salah's final season at Anfield due to strong interest from Saudi Arabia.

The forward was subject to a £150million bid from Al Ittihad last summer and Liverpool are braced for another offer in the coming months.

Reacting to the touchline row, England legend Stuart Pearce said on commentary for talkSPORT: “Whether Salah is thinking about the summer [and possible move away from Liverpool] or not, I don’t know, but when you set your standards as ludicrously high as Salah has, there’s no doubt about it you do get frustrated with your own form.

“I’m just watching a replay of the interaction now, Jurgen has said something to Salah and he’s reacting, and the more he reacts the more and more physical he is getting.

“Nunez and Gomez have had to be peacemakers, really, and hold him back.

“This sort of thing happens because of the frustration Salah will feel about his own form, and knowing the manager is not going to be here in a couple of weeks.”
