Liverpool was haunted by a player that Jürgen Klopp had previously raved about as West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring before getting an assist in a 2-2 draw during the Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds had been lackluster throughout the first half with few chances created, and after Luis Díaz hit the post following a strong individual run, a poor pass from Jarell Quansah led to a corner that saw Liverpool concede in familiar circumstances.

And it was Bowen who produced an accurate header that Alisson couldn't keep out, despite the Reds goalkeeper looking to get a hand to it.



That was Bowen's 16th goal of the Premier League season, the most of any West Ham player since Paulo Di Canio in the 99-00 season.

Andy Robertson equalized after the restart before Cody Gakpo's effort got Liverpool in front after several deflections, but it was Bowen involved again for the hosts as he turned provider this time, delivering a pinpoint cross for Michail Antonio to equalize — with a knockout blow to any remaining Liverpool title hopes.

Klopp has long been a fan of Bowen's ability, with a run of impressive performances from the right-flank since he joined the Hammers from Hull City in 2020.

Speaking ahead of the game, he was name-dropped by Klopp as one of his most admired opponents as he said: "Bowen one my favorite players, Paqueta, super-talented, Antonio, top striker.

"When Bowen is up there they find a solution, Ward-Prowse super signing for West Ham."

Liverpool.com says: As questions continue to emerge surrounding the future of Mohamed Salah, it's clear to see why Bowen has previously been linked as a potential candidate to join Liverpool.

The Klopp-favorite that exposed a familiar issue this season, with Liverpool going 1-0 down for the 16th time in the Premier League.

That isn't the sort of stat that is going to help in the title race, particularly when challenging a Manchester City side that is still awaiting trial for its 115 charges —which the Premier League CEO provided an update on recently.
