Arne Slot to Liverpool has really gathered momentum this week, and it is believed the Feyenoord manager is close to agreeing a deal with the Anfield hierarchy.

Arne Slot has rapidly ascended in the football management world, establishing himself as a notable tactician with a philosophy rooted in attacking football.

His coaching career began modestly at clubs like PEC Zwolle and NAC Breda in his native Netherlands.

He gained significant recognition during his tenure as assistant coach at AZ Alkmaar.

In 2020, Slot took over as head coach of AZ, where his impact was immediate, enhancing the team’s performance and visibility in Dutch football.

After he was relieved of his duties at AZ, he was picked up by Feyenoord – and that’s when his profile really started to skyrocket.

The Dutchman made the Conference League final in his first season at Feyenoord, losing out to Jose Mourinho’s Roma in the final 2021/22 final.

He built on that success the following campaign, leading Feyenoord to their first Eredivisie title in 2022/23 – the club’s first in six years.

Slot seems to be a knack of picking up silverware, as just this past weekend his side won the KNVB Cup (Dutch domestic cup) with a 1-0 win over NEC Nijmegen.

It has been reported that negotiations between the 45-year-old and Liverpool could be wrapped up by the weekend.

And it seems that Arsenal could be affected by Slot taking up the Anfield mantle.

What does Arne Slot and his appointment mean for Arsenal?

With the Dutch manager set to join Liverpool imminently, Feyenoord will need to face a replacement for next season.

AD (via Sport Witness), a Dutch newspaper that is thought to be close to Feyenoord, has been highlighting potential candidates to succeed Slot – and one of them is Mikel Arteta’s assistant manager Albert Stuivenberg.

Stuivenberg has extensive experience in youth development, having ‘worked for many years’ at Feyenoord’s academy, a path also followed by his father.

As Arsenal’s assistant coach, he is known for promoting an attacking style of play.

Additionally, he brings a wealth of experience from his time working under Louis van Gaal at Manchester United and with Ryan Giggs and Rob Page on the Wales national team coaching staff.

At 54 years old, Stuivenberg may soon need to seize a senior role or risk missing his chance?

This situation presents a prime opportunity for him, possibly leading to his departure from Arsenal.

Currently, he’s just a candidate and the newspaper is just putting forth likely options for Feyenoord.

The decision rests with Feyenoord, especially as their current manager appears to be on his way to Liverpool.
