David Coote will be the referee for Brighton & Hove Albion's visit to Liverpool this weekend as Premier League action returns following the international break.

Paul Tierney will be the Video Assistant Referee for the encounter, as the Reds look to move to the top of the table ahead of Arsenal's crunch match with Manchester City.

Tierney rewarded Liverpool possession after Ibrahima Konate was down with a head injury.



At the time, Forest were in possession, but upon the restart, Caoimhin Kelleher resumed play from a drop ball.

Coote isn't a stranger to the wrath of Jurgen Klopp either; the official was slammed after failing to award Liverpool a penalty in their meeting with Arsenal in December.

Gunners captain Martin Odegaard handled the ball in the box as he was falling to the ground, but it was deemed by Chris Kavanagh that the Norwegian hadn't done it deliberately, despite halting the passage of play, with Coote at Stockley Park.

"Yes, I have seen it," Klopp said.

"I am pretty sure someone will come to explain it to me why it was not a handball but I don't know how?

"I don't say that the ref can see it because I don't know where he was in that moment.

But how can a guy in an office see that and not come to the conclusion that maybe, possibly, it could be worth the referee having another look?"

Tim Wood and Mark Scholes will assist Coote, with Craig Pawson as the fourth official, and in the VAR hub, assisting Tierney will be Dan Cook.
