Liverpool are licking their wound on Thursday morning after an abysmal showing in the Merseyside Derby.

The Reds never looked like winning at Goodison Park and after being beaten 2-0 their Premier League title hopes feel to be over.

Nevertheless, there are arguably more important matters at hand in the boardroom this week.

An initial bid for the Feyenoord boss was rejected yesterday, with Liverpool reportedly trying to ‘move fast‘ to make sure they get their man.

And after seeing things go so disappointingly for them on Wednesday, journalist Fabrizio Romano says the Reds are ready to act again.

There are plenty of reasons why Liverpool have decided on Slot against other candidates like Ruben Amorim.

The 45-year-old seemingly ticks all of the boxes Michael Edwards and co were looking for in their new manager.

That in itself should be exciting for Reds supporters.

Liverpool are claimed to be not alone in their appreciation of Slot, though.

Other European sides are reportedly hovering around him too.

As a result, the Reds need to make their negotiations with Feyenoord count.

And according to Romano’s X update on Thursday morning, they’re pushing to get a fee agreed for Slot.

“Liverpool will insist in talks with Feyenoord also in the next hours to reach an agreement on compensation,” says the journalist.

“LFC want to get Arne Slot deal done on club side soon, as there’s no issue on contact talks with the manager and his representative so far.”

The only thing it looks like stopping Slot from joining Liverpool is an agreement with his current club.

The Dutchman does not have a release clause in his contract, so the Reds are having to negotiate a fee with Feyenoord.

However, with packages for managers being much less expensive than those for players, we don’t see how this doesn’t end up getting done.

If Liverpool have decided that Slot is their man, then they’ll get him.
