Ruben Amorim, since taking over as manager of Sporting CP in March 2020, has rapidly ascended as one of the most promising coaching talents in Europe.

Implementing a dynamic 3-4-3 formation, Amorim emphasizes a high-pressing, possession-based playstyle that should resonate with a lot of the existing Liverpool players.

Under his guidance, Sporting clinched the Primeira Liga title in the 2020/21 season, their first in 19 years, breaking the dominance of rivals Benfica and Porto.

Additionally, Amorim led his side to victory in the Taca da Liga twice and reached the knockout stages of the Champions League, signaling his prowess on both the domestic and European fronts.

Ruben Amorim and his Sporting side are into the Taça de Portugal final (Portuguese domestic cup) and are four points above Benfica in the Liga Portugal title race with a game in hand.

Sporting can extend their lead to seven points at the top of the table should they win against Famalicão on Tuesday night.

It is believed an early clinch of the Liga Portugal title for Amorim’s side could expedite negotiations.

According to The Telegraph, the Reds could potentially secure Amorim’s services for a bargain fee of just £12.8 million.

While his release clause can be activated at the end of the season, it is noteworthy that it decreases further in 2025, potentially allowing room for negotiation.

What does the Liverpool dressing room think of Ruben Amorim?

It is believed that Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are directly involved with the search for Jurgen Klopp’s successor – with Amorim seemingly the focus of their effort.

The Sporting CP manager has reportedly risen to the top of the pile after Xabi Alonso ruled himself out of contention for the Anfield hotseat at the end of March.

Now Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepúlveda – who has been reliable with this story throughout the twists and turns – has revealed what the Liverpool dressing room think of Amorim:

“Rúben Amorim’s name is positively appreciated within the Liverpool dressing room,” he writes on X.

“The players welcome the Liverpool’s board main choice to replace Klopp.”

It is certainly good to hear that the Liverpool players appreciate Amorim.

Trent Alexander-Arnold recently spoke on how it would be ‘strange’ to play under a manager other than Jurgen Klopp.

All Liverpool players besides Joe Gomez only know how it is to be managed by the German at Anfield.

Amorim is young for a manager at 39, only seven years older than the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

Therefore, if he does get appointed, the Sporting boss will have to ensure he can win over the Liverpool squad as quick as possible.
