Liverpool ended the January transfer window with zero new signings, with the Reds only allowing a few academy players to leave on loan.
Jayden Danns is expected to depart for Sunderland until the end of the season whilst Kaide Gordon has signed for Portsmouth on loan, with Liverpool opting not to sign any new players despite a lack of depth in some positions in the squad.
With Liverpool looking to sign four players in 2025, the summer transfer window now looks set to be a big one for the Reds given how many high-profile players could end up leaving, with Trent Alexander-Arnold likely to join Real Madrid.

According to the Athletic, senior figures at Liverpool are pleased with how much squad depth the Anfield side actually have, with officials impressed with how strong the Reds’ bench was during Saturday’s win against AFC Bournemouth.
With Liverpool opting not to move for Stefanos Tzimas or Marc Guehi, it was clear early on in the transfer window that the Reds weren’t going to make any major signings unless their hand was forced, with the squad in good shape after the changes made by Slot.
The Dutch manager has excelled in giving a new lease of life to a number of players, with Ryan Gravenberch compared to Steven Gerrard over the weekend after the midfielder’s performance against Bournemouth.

And with Slot getting extra ounce of quality out of his Liverpool squad, it makes sense why the former Feyenoord manager chose not to make any new signings, with the Reds well on course to win silverware this season.
Saving precious funds until the summer could end up paying off big time for Liverpool having not spent in January, yet that doesn’t mean the Reds were never going to dip their toes into the market no matter what happened.
As per the aforementioned Athletic report, Richard Hughes was only willing to spend in January unless Slot was hit with a long-term injury to an important player or if the market presented itself with a player who was too good to turn down.
With neither scenario happening, though, Liverpool ended January with zero new signings, and the Reds will want to hope that they once again made the right call in not delving into the market having made just one signing last summer.
