Robin van Persie snubbed an offer from Manchester United to learn from Liverpool candidate Arne Slot at Feyenoord.

He's not been successful in his efforts — with a current nine-point gap separating his side and league leaders PSV Eindhoven — although he has added to his already impressive CV.
The KNVB Cup is the latest of his achievements after also guiding his team to the Europa Conference League final in 2022 and AZ to the league title in 2019/20 — before the season was called off due to the pandemic.
It comes as no surprise that potential coaches — such as Van Persie — are eager to learn from Slot.
However, he passed up on the chance and now takes charge of the Feyenoord U18 and U19 sides instead.
Part of the reason Van Persie chose to pass up on the offer was to work with Slot, as he regularly takes part in the first team training sessions at the club and gets a first-hand opportunity to learn from him.
Dutch legend Marco van Basten has also been quick to admire the work of Slot in recent years.
