Feyenoord’s Arne Slot now seems to be the talk of the town as Liverpool’s manager hunt ramps up.

Ideally, from the perspective of Liverpool, you want that new manager signed, sealed and delivered before Jurgen Klopp heads for the exit door for the final time.

Many names have been talked about ever since Klopp decided that this Premier League season was going to be his final at Anfield.

At one point, Xabi Alonso seemed the overwhelming favourite, he was the one the majority of the fans wanted, but he is now staying put in Germany and has since guided Bayer Leverkusen to a historic first Bundesliga title.

Perhaps he will enter the Liverpool dugout sometime in the near future?!

Either way, talks have been held with Slot and it seems as though the Reds want to push for his signature.

One man who is familiar to both the Merseyside club and Feyenoord is a certain Dirk Kuyt.

The former forward played for both clubs during his career – and had very good spells – he first joined the Reds in 2006 from the Dutch outfit, before going on to play for the club again during the latter stages of his career.

Kuyt has already spoken highly about Slot and the ‘energy’ and ‘positivity’ he provides in the camp when he was invited by the manager to see one of his teams in 2023, as quoted by FR12.NL.

Whilst many fans will be wondering what style of play Slot brings to the table, you feel one of the most important things will be his character and how he deals with internal and external matters.

“A while ago I was invited by Arne Slot to come visit,” Kuyt says in conversation with ESPN.

It was not my intention to talk about my own championship experiences.

We didn’t talk about that.

In any case, it feels as if they don’t need anything or anyone.”

If this goes through, then there are going to be obvious comparisons to a certain struggling Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag.

That’s understandable, but what could be the difference here is the duo’s characters.

Slot is deemed to be more upbeat, he sticks by what he says and is a stronger man-manager than his fellow countryman.

That’s probably one of the reasons why he is being targeted because Klopp built a special relationship with his players and the fans, as well as keeping the media in check.
