There was a mixed reaction during the week when Rúben Amorim became the new frontrunner to succeed Jürgen Klopp as Liverpool manager.
Alonso had earlier confirmed during a press conference his stance to stay with the German club, ruling himself out of what would have been the ideal Liverpool scenario.
Other Liverpool fans have been long-term admirers of Amorim and can see how he can become a success.

It's fair to say that Amorim will have a much better infrastructure in place if he does join in the summer, though, with Liverpool having already landed Michael Edwards as CEO of Football, and new sporting director Richard Hughes already working on his checklist before officially joining at the end of the season.
In terms of transitioning from Klopp, Amorim's style of play seems to be better suited.
Alonso would have brought more of a Pep Guardiola style of play to Anfield, but it is Amorim who plays more direct.
It is an exciting prospect.
Darwin Núñez
It wasn't long after Amorim was linked as a candidate before comparisons of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres, who was previously linked with Liverpool, were drawn to Darwin Núñez.
He has a similar scoring rate in the Portuguese league to Núñez, and that should see Amorim optimistic of getting the best out of him.
The Uruguayan is another star who suits a direct style more than a tiki-taka one, and it would be unsurprising to see him looked to as the number one center-forward, with support from Salah coming from the right flank.
Overall, I don't think there should be too many concerns about Amorim.
