Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ascent from Liverpool’s academy to the first team is a glowing reflection of the Reds’ youth setup.

Joining the academy at the age of six, Alexander-Arnold honed his skills under the club’s tutelage from the U8 level.

His talent and dedication soon became evident, earning him rapid promotions through the ranks.

Breaking into the senior team under Jurgen Klopp in 2016, Alexander-Arnold’s versatility and exceptional abilities as a right-back quickly established him as a key figure in the Liverpool renaissance of the last years.

His unique skillset makes him an attractive prospect for any European club, and his contract situation has now caught the attention of Real Madrid.

Less than 18 months remain until Alexander-Arnold’s contract expires in the summer of 2025.

Because of his contract issue, Fabrizio Romano said last week that Real Madrid was showing interest in the Liverpool player.

Los Blancos are understandably keen to get a player of his quality on a free transfer – as they did with Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba in recent years.

It is quite hard to imagine a situation where Alexander-Arnold chooses to leave Anfield voluntarily.

He is a boyhood fan of Liverpool, and his comments back in 2018 suggests Liverpool fans have absolutely nothing to worry about.

What did Trent Alexander-Arnold say about Liverpool?

Speaking back in 2018 in an interview with The Times, the England international revealed that he would love to stay at Liverpool his entire career:

“There is nowhere else I’d rather be than Liverpool.”

“Somewhere I want to stay for the rest of my career is Liverpool.

Liverpool is special.”

“It’s completely down to the fans.

Whether we are winning or losing we always have their love.”

‘Down to the fans?’ Then Alexander-Arnold will know how devasting it would to the fanbase should the flagship of the academy leave Anfield.

Joining Real Madrid would add further insult to injury after the club has lost two Champions League finals to the Spanish giants in the last six years.

In the same interview, the 25-year-old also explained his desire to become club captain – something he is well on his way to achieving as the current vice-captain:

“I want to become captain one day

That’s definitely a dream of mine.”

“I hope with dedication, the right advice and the hard work that still needs to be put in that one day I might achieve that dream of becoming captain, something that me and my family will be very proud of if it comes.”

Of course, plenty has changed since 2018, but if anything – Alexander-Arnold’s bond with Liverpool has only gotten stronger.

Between now and then he has won everything for the club, including breaking a 30-year wait for a League title.

Nonetheless, hopefully Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation gets sorted out as soon as possible so we can focus on his exploits on the pitch.
