Although Liverpool are higher up than Everton in the Premier League table, Toffees fans will be feeling a lot better than their Reds counterparts at present.
Sean Dyche’s charges haven’t had the easiest of seasons, but Everton have secured safety with three games to spare.
And that’s with those points deductions.
Meanwhile, Liverpool were dreaming of a triumphant season on multiple fronts as a way to give Jurgen Klopp the best possible Anfield send-off.
However, two defeats and two draws from their last five league games have left the Reds two points off top spot, having played one more game than Arsenal and two more than Manchester City.
Even worse for Liverpool, the match that arguably dealt the critical blow in their realistic hopes of winning the title was Everton at Goodison Park in midweek.

As a result, Toffees fans are buzzing at present.
Not only have they survived in the Premier League this season despite all those hurdles, but they’ve probably also cost Liverpool the title.
Unsurprisingly, Everton supporters were heard chanting about the part their team played in Liverpool’s fading title hopes as the Toffees’ meeting with Brentford at Goodison Park was taking place.

“‘You lost the league, at Goodison Park’ is the chant early doors from Everton supporters, clearly still buzzing after victory over Liverpool here three days ago,” BBC Sport‘s Shamoon Hafeez reported.
Both Everton and Liverpool have three games left this season.
The Blues head to Luton Town next week before hosting relegated Sheffield United and then wrapping up the season with a trip to Arsenal.
Meanwhile, the Reds host Tottenham Hotspur next week, then they head to Aston Villa and finally they face Wolves at Anfield in their season finale.
